What does a treatment involve? On the first visit, I will take a brief health and lifestyle history, discuss your health goals, and suggest a plan of therapy.
Then you will take your socks off, sit or lie down on a comfortable massage table and relax.
During the treatment I will take short notes about my findings, which will help me to create the best treatment plan for you.
How long does a session last? The treatment usually lasts 60 minutes, but the first session will be about 20 minutes longer allowing time for the consultation so that I can get to know you, your medical background and requirements.
How many treatments will I need?It is up to you how many treatment sessions you wish to have, but if you would like to treat a medical condition, it is advisable to have 6 to 7 treatments. Chronic conditions take longer to respond to the treatment than short term health problems. Most people notice a difference after 4-6 sessions.
What does a treatment feel like? Does it hurt or tickle?Reflexology doesn’t feel ticklish, because I use quite a firm hold and pressure to work on the feet.
Areas of congestion may feel tender, but I constantly check that you are comfortable and adapt the pressure I apply that suits you.
Are there any possible side effects to the treatment? There are no known negative side effects. Reflexology helps the body to normalize by removing waste products and toxins, which may be experienced as an increased bowel movement, increased urination or perspiration, a runny nose etc. Drinking lots of pure water after the treatment should help the body to eliminate the toxins faster and bring the body back to its homeostasis.
Usually after the session people feel very relaxed or energised and invigorated.
